Historic Rendezvous

Stardate 6487.2: The USS Sheridan arrives at Altair VI to relieve the Enterprise after its crew finished a long diplomatic mission on the planet, in which a new agricultural agreement was signed. The Sheridan, with a full diplomatic team aboard, is ordered to oversee the first steps of the implementation of said agreement.

However, Altair VI is well known in the Federation for its vast natural reserves. So captain Kirk convinced Starfleet to give his crew some free time before assigning them a new mission. Meanwhile, the crew of the Sheridan didn't have much to do, as any and all diplomatic tension was pretty much resolved by the crew of the Enterprise, and the small diplomatic team was more than capable to deal with the few loose ends.

So it was that the most successful Valley Forge and the most successful Constitution shared a full week in orbit, with both crews enjoying the natural beauties the planet below had to offer.

The idea for this image came from Masao, who asked me to create a scene which shows the Connie with the Valley Forge, and shows how the former was supposed to be a larger, bulkier version of the latter. I had to modify the Sheridan model to be closer to Masao's original drawings for this one. This was necessary to make it look more elegant and slimmer, so the lateral deflector sensors and the plasma grills are gone for this one.

Thanks to for sharing his amazing Enterprise model! I only hope he can forgive me for changing the textures to make it look more similar to my Valley Forge model.
